the carbon back

Crop residue that would have been burned in an open field goes into the reactors at our plants. Controlled heat and our own chemistry turn it into diesel — the same molecule as fossil, not a blend of it.

What goes in

Agricultural residue, collected from farms and agro-industry around Chakan.

It starts as something nobody wants — and something that would otherwise be set on fire.

Greenjoules is a deep-tech biorefinery operating from Chakan, Pune. We take agri-waste and agro-industrial residues — materials that would otherwise be burned in open fields — and convert them through a proprietary thermochemical process into second-generation biofuels.

Agricultural residues only — rice husk, sugarcane press mud, paddy straw. No cropland diverted. No food chain disrupted.

What happens inside

Controlled heat, in a process built and owned by our own team.

Thermochemical conversion. Not fermentation, not blending — the carbon is rebuilt.

Our thermochemical conversion process is developed and owned entirely by our team. No licensed IP, no royalty dependency — full technical control at every step. What emerges is a second-generation biofuel that is chemically indistinguishable from its fossil counterpart.

03 — The Fuel

What comes out

Renewable Diesel and Bionaphtha. Drop-in, litre for litre.

Diesel. Not a blend of it.

Meets BIS:1460, the Indian diesel standard. Surpasses Euro VI. No engine or infrastructure modification required — it simply replaces fossil diesel, litre for litre. Our fuels carry among the lowest lifecycle carbon footprints of any fuel available anywhere in the world today.

1G biofuels — the old way
  • Made from food crops
  • Competes with the food chain
  • Blending only — not drop-in
  • High land-use emissions
Greenjoules 2G
  • Made from agri-waste
  • Zero food competition
  • 100% drop-in replacement
  • Under 25g CO₂ per eq. km

Audited, every year

We don't just claim sustainability. We prove it — every year.

In a sector where greenwashing is rampant, Greenjoules subjects its entire production chain to the most rigorous third-party verification available. The ISCC Biocircular certification is not a marketing award — it is an independent annual audit of every input, transformation, and output in our process.

  • 01
ISCC Biocircular Certified — 3rd consecutive year

Each certification requires a fresh, independent audit. Three years running means sustained integrity, not a one-time achievement.

  • 02
    Commercial operations at Chakan, Pune

Not a pilot or a prototype. A running commercial biorefinery with real customers, real offtake agreements, and real revenues.

  • 03
    Series B — institutional-grade investors

Our fundraise has attracted some of the most credible names in India's energy investment world, providing independent validation of our technology and trajectory.

  • 04
    Fully owned process technology

No licensed foreign IP, no royalty dependency, no technology risk from external partners — complete technical sovereignty.
